How To Pack Mirrors & Picture Frames
If you have ever broken the glass in your favorite picture frame or shattered your most treasured mirror, you already know the importance of carefully packing fragile items. Here are some tips that our team at You Move Me Vancouver have put together to help you properly pack your picture frames and mirrors.
What You Will Need:
- Moving boxes larger than the items you are packing
- Packing paper or bubble wrap
- Sturdy packaging tape
- A permanent marker
The Steps for Packing Your Mirrors & Picture Frames:
The first thing you’ll want to do is clear a large area to give you plenty of space to pack. Spread out your bubble wrap or packing paper and place the frame or mirror on it, centered and at the top. Then wrap it well, like you’d wrap a present. Give it plenty of cushion, and then tape in full circles around the item.
Mark the side of the package that the glass is on (consider taping a large “X” over the side with the glass). This will help alleviate a mess should any glass end up breaking (but if you pack it properly, it shouldn’t break!).
Once the picture frame or mirror is securely wrapped, prepare the box. First, fill the bottom of your box with crumpled paper. Then put the wrapped frame or mirror inside. Finally, fill any empty space in the box with crumpled paper. Stuff the paper in firmly so that the frame cannot be jostled during transport. Once you have the frame secured in the box, tape it closed securely with your packaging tape. Don’t forget to label your box with its contents to help facilitate the unpacking process!
