Vancouver is an outdoor paradise
Living in Vancouver gives you a wide range of outdoor activities. There are several farmers markets, and the Vancouver Farmers Market itself has over 200 vendors that participate. If you are looking for breathtaking views, just take a drive up the Columbia River Gorge, or visit one of our many hilltop wineries. In the summer you can look forward to concerts in Esther Short Park, or at the Clark County Amphitheater.
Vancouver is pet friendly
If you like taking your furry friend with you everywhere you go, then Vancouver is the place for you. There are many dog parks located throughout Vancouver and surrounding Clark County. In October make sure to attend Dogtoberfest, an annual event celebrating everything there is to celebrate about dogs. This event features Dog Olympics, Canine Costume contests, Vendors and Raffles. There are countless hotels and Restaurants in Vancouver that a pet friendly and even a pet friendly hiking trail, The Columbia River Renaissance trail.
Vancouver has an abundance of family fun
Looking for a little educational fun for the kids? Visit the Fort Vancouver National Historical site, take a tour through a working blacksmith shop, or let the kids dig for artifacts. Pomeroy Living History Farms is a short drive from Vancouver. There you can experience a 1920’s farm, and try your hand at various farm activities such as grinding grain, feeding livestock, and even making rope. Looking for a way to cool down on a hot day? We have the Firstenburg Community Center, with a kids’ area, lazy river, and waterslide!
Vancouver has lots of seasonal events
Vancouver, Washington has some amazing seasonal events. In October, visit one of the many pumpkin patches, shoot pumpkin catapults at Bi-Zi Farms or take a hay ride at Joe’s Place. In December, find a vast array of Christmas tree lights with the Christmas Ships Parade on the Columbia River. In February, take that special someone to enjoy a romantic meal at The Grant House on Officer’s Row. In the spring you will come across many festivals and events such as the Recycled Arts Festival in June.
Vancouver’s natural beauty is unparalleled
Not only is Vancouver a great place to live for what we have here in terms of amenities, activites, and culture, it is also a great place to live because of the natural beauty of the area, and you will be just a short drive from beautiful beaches on the Pacific Ocean, Mt. St. Helens, and even Mt. Hood.
Drive north about two hours and you will find the hustle and bustle of Seattle. If you are looking for something a little more serene, there is camper’s hideaway at Lake Merwin just an hour north of Vancouver.
Vancouver can be a great alternative to living in Portland: you have all of the same great advantages of Portland living while getting a smaller town feel and (arguably) better school districts. Also, there is no state tax and you can avoid sales tax by taking that short drive across the river and making purchases in Portland.
