Moving in Japan
One of our movers in San Diego, Cody Combes, had the opportunity of a lifetime when a Japanese reality show about international professionals asked if they could fly one of our team members overseas for a feature. Of course we said yes!
Cody shared his experience with the You Move Me blog:
“Well, if I was to put my trip to Japan in the simplest of phrases, ‘whirlwind’ would be an understatement. I can’t thank You Move Me and Gabe [Franchise Partner] enough for the opportunity to go and be a part of something so interesting and amazing.
The TV show is meant for older business-minded people, and the purpose is to have professionals from around the world come and see how a Japanese company does the same job; then we comment and ask questions about what we saw.
The moving company we shadowed is a part of the Art Corporation called the 0123. The 0123 is an amazingly professional company that put customer service first and did a great job with house and property protection. The employees were well-trained and well organized, even in the stirs of chaos during all the filming. It was crazy to see the very narrow streets and the trucks they have to make the move possible in those areas.
The crew was nice and friendly the whole time; even with a language barrier, they were very polite. The attitude and professionalism of the GM and crew, I believe, were directly related to the extensive training they had for their team. All of their major facilities had mock houses or apartments in which to train new employees and refresh old ones. They would cover everything: the initial greeting of the client at the door, the house protection, the furniture protection, and moving everything out of the mock house. The training was thorough and constructive.
Overall, the trip was well worth my time and a great learning experience.”
