Vancouver Island Mover Profile: Football to Floor Runners
You Move Me Vancouver Island has some amazing movers. Not only do we get to work with some exceptional people through our business, but we get to meet some very diverse, and interesting people in the process! We sat down with one of our Crew Leaders, Eric Seiller, to learn a bit more about getting drafted to the Victoria Rebels Football team, moving to Victoria and his experiences with You Move Me Vancouver Island.

How long have you been playing football?
I started playing football in Grade 7 as a drumheller titan. I kept playing right up until graduation.
When did you first get drafted to the Westshore Rebels?
My friend Aden told me to come try out for the team with him, so I gave it a shot. I didn’t really have any expectations going into it, so it was a cool surprise to learn I had made the team. I started with them just out of high school.
Once you made the Team, you knew you had to move to Victoria. What was your experience like moving to Vancouver Island?
Amazing! I love it here. I was billeted with a family through the football team so I had a place to stay as soon as I arrived. When I first got to the island I found a job with You Move Me right away; it seemed like a good fit because of my strength from football. My first day in Victoria I went straight to work, then to the gym after, and haven’t looked back since.
What is your favourite part about living on Vancouver Island? And what do you miss about home?
I really like the general vibe that is given off here. Everyone has a kind-of happy, fun and almost child-like vibe. Alberta is much harsher; more of a go to work and go home at the end of the day. The weather on the west coast isn’t bad either! I miss my family and friends but I can’t see myself living in Drumheller again.
You’ve been working with You Move Me Vancouver Island for a while as a Crew Lead, What is it like running a moving crew?
I really like my coworkers. The environment is always fun and friendly; we get to laugh and have a great time on the job. It’s really so much better than anything I could have expected as a mover! We get to help people when they are feeling stressed by packing, boxing and moving their things and that feels really great. Although I like leading the team, I do sometimes miss being a mover with Alex and Sean; the responsibility of leading the team is awesome, but I like to sometimes take direction as well.
You get to work with your big brother now! Do you like being his boss on the job?
It doesn’t really feel like I’m his boss or really that we are even working together. We get along surprisingly well for brothers and we just click when we work together. It’s really great that he was able to move out here and find work with You Move Me. Although he’s not as big as me, he is still super strong, so we make a great team!
What is your favourite part about working for You Move Me?
Hands down, the management. Patrick and Morgan make this company so amazing to work for. Once you start working with the company it’s not hard to feel like you’re one of the family. I really couldn’t have asked for a better job!
